Ebike Uses & Benefits
To
save money and help protect the environment, ebikes are designed as an
alternative form of transportation for local commuting, errands and recreation.
Now commonplace in Europe and Asia, ebikes are just starting to gain attention
and use in the United States. Recent interest among Americans is due to
soaring fuel prices; an interest in decreasing our dependency on foreign
fuel and a growing, collective initiative to find ways to reduce global
warming. Here are just some of the ways that ebikes have been integrated
into the daily lives of eco-friendly Americans to date:
- For commuters traveling short distances (15 miles/20 km or less) to and from work, ebikes help save on high gas prices and reduce a commuter's carbon footprint vs. automobiles. As an alternative to commuting by bicycle, ebikes are more accessible to more people as well as eliminates the need to shower or change clothing when you arrive at work or return home.
- For running local errands, ebikes are perfect for post office trips, hair cuts, meeting a friend for coffee or lunch, doctor's appointments, trips to the bank, etc. Basically ebikes make sense anytime it is seems like too short of a trip to take a car and too long of a way to walk.
- For those living in housing developments, gated or retirement communities and other types of campus like living situations, ebikes are a quick and fun way to get around the neighborhood.
- For college kids, ebikes are an inexpensive mode of transporation to get to and from campus as well as around campus. Additionally, ebikes offer students access to local shopping and entertainment venues as well as touring beyond the campus.
- For boat and RV owners, ebikes provide a compact and efficient means of touring once a destination is reached.
- For vacation homeowners, ebikes are a great recreational vehicle for touring the area and enjoying the outdoors.
- For non-cyclists, ebikes allow you to enjoy some of the benefits of bike riding, i.e., being out in the fresh air, local touring, etc. without the physical requirement of pedaling.
Saving You Money
Electric bicycles have proven to be a very economical means of transportation in comparison with other means of local transport for commuting and leisure. The cost of recharging the power supply is less than 10 cents for up to 50 miles (80 kms) of riding. For perspective, gas driven motor scooters get about 80 miles to the gallon. When properly maintained by the user, the cost of maintenance for ebikes is also extremely low.
Saving our Enviroment
Veloteq ebikes emit ZERO
pollution and operate with minimal sound. By comparison, gas motored scooters
generate about 10 times more polluting emissons per mile than a passenger
car, light truck or SUV, according to the California Air Resources Board
as well as are quite noisy. So while they are more fuel efficient than
automobiles they are also dangerously more polluting to the environment.
